Chapter 2 – Journey Home
: with Samba
First ride, first peculiarities - refueling stop with teamwork
First stop: gas station.
The fuel cap can be opened from the inside, but can only be closed again with teamwork: press the button inside, hold the cap outside – click. We can improvise.
Speed window samba on the highway
It drives inconspicuously up to 80 km/h, then it starts to wobble, and from 90 km/h it calms down again.
Remote diagnosis on the phone: “Hopefully just an imbalance, sounds like exactly that kind of window.”
We hope so too.
Radio Museum vs. Bluetooth
Radio? More like a radio museum. It feels like the only stations that come in are those that are playing in the car next door.
After five minutes the station and/or mood changes.
Luckily, the discotheque has Bluetooth; with your own music, even a BGS disco becomes almost homely.
Social study at the wheel
Some cars suddenly slow down very quickly near us (a Federal Border Police flashback?), others wave or give a thumbs up.
From within, it feels more like solidarity and compassion. Let's accept it.
Arrival & Kick-off
After eight hours, numerous breaks, and a surprising number of rest stop conversations (“What kind of car is that?”), we roll into Hamburg.
Project start: clear the workbench, open Excel, and turn on your sense of humor.
